Fave Anime/Manga Men #3: Jellal

Name: Jellal Fernandes

Series: Fairy Tail

Why he's here: Jellal is also a darker character, but a very well written one. His story is one of the most tragic in the whole series. Taken from his home as a child and forced into slavery, then tortured and brainwashed. He turns into an atrocity, enslaving and killing many while under the control of Ultear. 8 years of his life are spent building a tower to resurrect a "god" that isn't dead in the first place. He loses everything, and is defeated. After his defeat Ultear removes her influence and he sacrifices himself to control the release of Etherion, taking the place of the woman he loves. He is then left to die. He is rescued but has lost his memory. When he is told of the atrocities that he has committed, he reveals that the possession is gone, but he wants to die. Then is arrested and sentenced to death.
Of course he is rescued from prison and now roams the land with a small guild bent on destroying dark guilds and Zeref.

I hope he ends up with a happier ending. That when Zeref is defeated he'll settle down with Erza. But anyway, Jellal is incredibly powerful, and I like that he's starting to become more like the others, in that he gets made fun of once in a while. (Like in the grand magic games, and when he accidentally grabs Erza's breasts). It made me happy in the new anime when they added a scene of him and Erza fighting together. His (manga) battle with Oracion Seis was droolworthy.
He still gets hate from people for the way he was when he was evil, but it wasn't really him! As an astronomer, I appreciate his heavenly body magic.
In any case: Jellal is awesome.
